PAX East 2023 #1: Not All Vegan Food is Healthy
Every year we go to PAX East (video game convention in Boston) and one of my companions is vegan and LOVES Veggie Galaxy, so it’s mandatory to go for at least one meal. I’ve tried all sorts of things there, and for the most part, it’s all pretty good. And no, not all vegan food is healthy. This is diner food, which can be a lot of fried food, definitely not healthy. Veggie Galaxy is not actually strictly vegan, they are a vegetarian/vegan place that an make any dishe vegan, so whenever they offered real cheese, I opted for that.
My other companion and I decided to split some dishes and started with the nachos.
It was basically fully loaded with the exception of any meats, but I ddidn’t feel like I missed it at all - it was a pretty large portion, so of course we had enough for next day leftovers!
I have learned over the years that the portions are huge here and this time I managed not to over-order too much so I could save room for dessert. The restaurant bakes everything in-house too and it’s all vegan. I love their tazo chocolate cake, so I had to make sure to save some room.
For entree, i went with a Epic Chick’n Parm Sub which came with tater tots. And since my companion got the “Meatball” Sub, we decided to split them so we could try both.
Of course, i ate half so I could save room for dessert, but both sandwiches were pretty good although i think I liked the Chick’n parm a little more. A very solid meal, although it’s not going to turn me vegetarian or vegan, but I don’t mind eating veggie/vegan every once in awhile.
I wish I took a picture of the cake slice, but we packed it to go and ate it in the hotel, and I completely forgot. Oops.
