Hi.

I'm recording my adventures in exploring my mother's food, my own food adventures and sometimes travel. That is Tyson, getting in the way as usual.

Private Outdoor Dining in the winter!

Private Outdoor Dining in the winter!

I discovered on Instagram that a couple friends were in town from Florida and I reached out and they happened to have dinner that same night open! So I have them a couple choices, one being a casual Italian place with great pasta, and the other was Quality Bistro, which I had always heard great things about (I’ve been to Quality Meats and loved it). So of course, they chose Quality Bistro. While making the reservation it seemed they had options for outdoor private dining in addition to a regualr table indoors. I wasn’t sure what that meant, but private dining sounded fun plus it said that it was heated. So I made the reservation. When we arrived, it was truly an outdoor dining space with heated seats. However, the curtains didn’t completely block out all the wind, so some of us chose to keep our coats on since there was a bit of a draft, but overall it was pretty cozy!

After settling in, of course it was very exciting to have a private dining space and so we all ordered some drinks. I got the Lillet Cup (Lillet, Tanqueray, Strawberry, Mint, Lemon) which came in a very fun cup.

It was odd not being able to actually see the liquid I was consuming, but it was such a fun cup that I didn’t mind. As for appetizers, I read that their French Onion Soup is really great. I don’t usually go for French Onion Soup as in the past i’ve ones where the cheese just congeals. But I decided to go for this one based on recommendations.

The recommendations did not lie. This was probably the best French Onion soup I’ve had, although I haven’t had a lot. Honestly though, highly recommend. In addition to this, we also ordered the Lobster Toast to share. I thought it might be something like asian shrimp toast, but it was different than I expected and not in a bad way.

It was on a thick piece of toast with generous portions of lobster, covered with hollandaise. Lastly, one of my companions ordered the escargot as an appetizer as well.

I was impressed that they came with the shells as many other places in this country have not served them in shells from my experience. As for entrees, it’s a steakhouse. Of course I had to go for the steak.

I went with the Strip Steak Frites, which I believe is a NY Strip cut. It had a nice crust to it, yet so tender inside (medium rare of course). Amazing steak sauce, but no idea what they had in it, plus really crispy fries. And yet, despite the amount of food, I could not resist ordering an additional side. I mean, if you saw Corn Creme Brulee on the menu too, would you just bypass it?

I love corn and corn products. This was just as advertised. It was very much like creme brulee, except with a very strong corn flavor. Nearly savory, but since corn is so naturally sweet, that came through. It was so tasty, also recommend this. Even though the bill came out to more than I was looking to spend on a random Wednesday night, it was overall a very solid meal. Glad I was able to take some out of towners to a great meal prior to their musical that night. I encourage you to all check it out - they look to have outdoor seating in the warmer weather as well.
