Hi.

I'm recording my adventures in exploring my mother's food, my own food adventures and sometimes travel. That is Tyson, getting in the way as usual.

My companion and I had tickets to The Piano Lesson (starring Samuel L Jackson, John David Washington & Danielle Brooks) - side note: it was really great. For a pre-theater meal, the plan was to go to a nearby Thai spot. However, due to some poor communication, we had to pivot last minute. That’s when I remembered Jollibee just opened a new location in Times Square. This is different from the other “Times Square” location that they opened first on 8th Ave. For those who don’t know, Jollibee is a Filipino fried chicken chain. It was mainly located on the west coast but came over to the east coast in the last 5 years. Their chicken is very juicy and always comes with a side of gravy. They have different sides you can choose from, ranging from those that you typically see, mashed potatoes, fries, to the more asian variety, like rice. My favorite, which is not everyone’s cup of tea, is their spaghetti. The sauce is not your typical red sauce, it’s a lot sweeter and they also cut up slices of hot dogs into it and top it with shredded cheese. So, conveniently they have a combo meal with 1 piece of fried chicken, with a side of spaghetti and choice of drink.

My advice? Always go for the pineapple refresher… it’s just pineapple juice and it’s so so good. My companion ordered the spicy chicken sandwich and a side of biscuits. They also have added burgers to their menu but… why go to a chicken place and order a burger? I guess it’s good to have options.
