I'll Never Let Go... Unless there's Udon
When I first heard about Titanique, I knew we had to go. My former room mate and I had many conversations about Titanic, and I’m not even sure why. I wasn’t particularly attached to the movie when it came out, I didn’t even go see it in the theaters until close to the end of its run. Regardless, when we found out there was a musical spoof of the movie, we had to check it out. It didn’t hurt that I had another colleague that had gone and highly recommended it. So, during Broadway week’s 2 for 1 ticket deal, 4 of us headed off to the show. But of course, first, dinner.
I always like to pick something close to the theater and was looking for a more mid-range casual place to go, so we settled on Tsurutontan. I’ve been here many times, and it is always a favorite. I went with the sukiyaki deluxe. I love sukiyaki and always gravitate towards it. One of my first experiences with it was in Kaosiung, Taiwan; my aunt had taken us to some restaurant on a high floor in a very tall building. I was probabaly 13 or 14, and I still consider it the best sukiyaki I’ve had although my memory of it at this point is so fuzzy. Very flavorful broth, one could say a strong umami flavor. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Tsurutontan’s noodle dishes always come in massively large bowls, giving you the illusion that it’s an oversize portion, but it is very manageable.
My 3 companions went with a stir fried udon,
Uni Creme,
and the vegetable tempura.
Food was great as usual. There are a few different locations around the city and I highly recommend. The show as well was a lot of fun and definitely spanned the catalogue of Celine Dion favorites.
